date night!

July 30, 2009

my boyfriend and i always make it a point to have a weekly, weeknight date night on the books. a little time we save for each other. i recently had the idea that we should alternate planning each date night – adding a little element of surprise and spice to each other’s weeks! plans can be big (tickets to a fancy tennis match, romantic dinners)  or small (rooftop picnic at our apartment, bowling, dinner and a movie at century city) i have to say, i highly recommend it – it’s really fun to plan something for your lovie and i wake up almost giddy on the days when i get to find out what he’s planned for us!

sorry for all of our faithful, non-LA based followers, but this post is a bit LA-friendly. Recently while walking my dog along the beach path in santa monica, i noticed that coast restaurant at shutters on the beach offers a $25 prix-fixe wednesday night farmer’s market dinner. 3 fabulous courses, all fresh, locally grown ingredients that the chef picked up that day in the santa monica farmer’s market. what a perfect idea for date night! how could you not swoon over these amazing dishes:

while sitting in the most adorable of beachy/new englandy atmospheres:

while indulging in the most magnificent of views:

sigh…we’d love to hear any and all date night ideas in your hometowns! drop us a line! i’ve already started researching a location for next week. for a sneak peak…click here!
